About
Sheila Craig
When
Sheila was in her early 30's, she finally learned to slow down
(a bit!) through meditation and yoga. In 1996, she found her spiritual
home in Shambhala Buddhism and a year later discovered in yoga
a physical practice that beautifully complemented her meditation
practice and Buddhist world-view.
After
losing her job during the high-tech meltdown, and with it the
Nortel gym, Sheila made a commitment to make yoga her main physical
practice. She was amazed to discover after 6 months that she had
more energy, was stronger, healthier, happier, and even a few
pounds lighter, than she ever had been before.
In
2004 she took her practice further through classical yoga teacher
training with Yogi Vishvketu. She has since studied Prana Flow®
yoga with Shiva Rea and Maria Garre, and Yin yoga with Paul Grilley
and Sarah Powers.
After teaching yoga part-time for 3 years, in 2007 she made a
further leap, opening Windhorse Yoga studio in Wellington Village,
Ottawa, which she directed for 4 years. Sheila closed Windhorse
Yoga in 2011 to allow more time for family and personal development.
Sheila
currently practices and teaches flow, yin, and classical hatha
yoga. She also delights in teaching yoga to children and families
and offers meditation workshops. Sheila strives to help her students
make friends with their body and mind and to experience bhava
or "feeling mind", beyond concepts and judgement.
Sheila
is registered with the Yoga Alliance as an Experienced Registered
Yoga Teacher (E-RYT), is certified in YogaEd® (teaching yoga
to children), and is a certified meditation guide in the Shambhala
tradition.
